Day 1 – Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Your tour leader will pick you up in the morning from Marrakech airport or from your hotel in Marrakech to start your Morocco Sahara Tour along with the majestic beauty of the High Atlas Mountains, through the scenic route of Tizi n’Tichka’s lush oasis valleys and Tizi n’Test, mountainous areas highly popular with trekkers. You’ll stop for lunch at a Berber village on your way to Ouarzazate…….. was built by the French in the 1920s, and has since been a frequent location for Hollywood film shoots. We’ll visit one of the famous kasbahs of Morocco, Tifoultoute, used as a hotel for the cast of Lawrence of Arabia in the 1960s. Although it was once protected by a powerful dynasty, now its only guards are a sentry of large storks nesting atop its towers. After, you will explore the famous world heritage Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou.

Evening leisure at your charming Saharaoui Kasbah in the area.

Merzouga Luxury CampYou’ll depart for Tinghir, traveling the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs that rise up like turreted sand castles along this ancient caravan trading route. This area has long been a popular location for Hollywood films such as The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and most recently Hideous Kinky. The central region is one of the most exciting and romantic destinations of Morocco nestled along rich river valleys, palmeries, and burnished mud-brick homes ablaze in vibrant color under the shelter of the blue desert sky.

You’ll travel through the Dadès Valley past dramatic escarpments and plunging gorges via Tinghir with a special stop at the famous Todra gorges. Then another ride through ancient Kasbahs and Caravan road to Erfoud. where you will be switched off to your 4×4 for a short drive through the desert to the edge of Merzouga dunes for a cup of tea at our charming Kasbah before your Camel ride and dinner and overnight at a luxury badwin / Nomad tent to experiment the Nomad lifestyle.

Early evening, you will take a camel ride to catch the sunset on the dunes and to explore the mystical Saharan landscape as you ride by camel over the stunning sugar-fine sands of Merzouga as the red sun sinks. As night falls, listen to the beat of Berber drum music and song during the traditional cup of mint tea. This is where you get the chance to chant and learn how to use the Berber drums with the nomads.

Delight in a Moroccan feast of harira soup, a savory tagine (stew with meat and vegetables), fresh fruit within our Merzouga Luxury nomad camp in the Sahara.

Overnight stay within luxury nomad tent.

Day 3 -Sahara – Erfoud – Midelt – Ifrane – Fez
A day trip through Morocco countryside to Fez.

After breakfast, you will take another camelback ride to the edge of the dunes. After, you will take a very short 30 min 4×4 drive to visit one of the nomad villages followed by a stop at a local fossil Museum/Factory to learn the process that a fossil rock goes through before the locals turn it into a handcrafted home use or decorative item.

You’ll travel past a pageantry of fragrant, dense pine and cedar forests, terraced farms, and sienna mud-brick Berber villages in Azrou, known for its wood-carved handicrafts and expert carpet weaving. You’ll lunch in Midelt, a sleepy village flanked by the verdant beauty of both the Middle and the snow-covered High Atlas Mountains, bursting with colorful minerals that mottle the mountainside in a blaze of ruby, emerald, and topaz.
