Day 1 – Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Camel Ride & Overnight in Desert
Your Tour Leader will pick you up from your hotel, riad, or the airport in the morning to begin your travel across the Middle Atlas Mountains where you’ll discover verdant forests and rugged rock formations, and vibrant Berber villages with terraced farms. Descending down the mountains en route to the Sahara Desert, you’ll stop at Ifrane National Park to feed some monkeys before lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks. Follow by a drive to the last city of Erfoud where civilization end at that part of Morocco. In the afternoon, a Jeep will transport you to a charming Kasbah near the sugar-fine sands of the Sahara where you will rest over a cup of Nomad tea. You will explore the mystical Saharan landscape as you ride by camel over the stunning sugar-fine sands of Merzouga as the red sun sinks. As night falls, listen to the heady intoxicating beat of Berber drum music and song during the traditional pouring of mint tea. Delight in a Moroccan feast of harira (soup), a savory tagine (stew with meat and vegetables), or couscous, etc…. beneath flickering stars in the clear desert sky. Vegetarians and Vegans are welcome. Day 2: Sahara – Todra Gorges – Tinghir – Boumane du Dades – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, you will return by camel to the Jeeps for the trip back to Erfoud for a visit to the Fossil Musem / Factory where they turn fossils into home decorative items. You will travel behind the High Atlas Mountains for a special visit to Todra Gorges, explore the exquisite scenery, and meet the nomadic Berbers. You will travel the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs rise up like turreted sand castles along this ancient caravan trading route. This area has long been a popular location for Hollywood films such as The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and most recently Hideous Kinky. The central region is one of the most exciting and romantic destinations of Morocco nestled along rich river valleys, palmeries, and burnished mud-brick homes ablaze in vibrant color under the shelter of the blue desert sky. We’ll travel through the Dadès Valley past dramatic escarpments and plunging gorges via Tinghir where you will stop for some highlights of this Saharaoui town of Tinghir including the local bakery, then through the Rose Valley with a stop to one of the Rose cooperatives on your way for late afternoon leisure with dinner and overnight stay at your charming Saharaoui Kasbah in Ouarzazate area. Day 3: Kaasbah Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Berber Villages
After breakfast, you will start a day with a very nice walk exploring the World Heritage site of the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. Then, You’ll continue on through the High Atlas Mountains, past the rich rolling hills and valleys and mountains of Tizi n’Tichka’s. You’ll stop at a Berber village on your way to Ourika for a BBQ lunch. Along the way, you’ll pass fragrant pine and cedar forests filled with chatty Barbary apes as you head toward the Old Jewish Berber Village of Anrar. Dinner and an overnight stay at your charming Kasbah Omar riad. A home away from home. Riad Kasbah Omar is one and the only charming rustic Kasbah ever built in the middle of a Berber village. After you settle down a bit for your day trip, you will take a walk around the village, visit one of the Berber families for a true Moroccan native experience where you’ll witness the ritual pouring of mint tea. You will enjoy your dinner at Roof Top Restaurant of Riad Kasbah Omar with a Million $$ view of the valley, the river, the mountains, and nestled Berber villages. Day 4 – Berber Villages – Marrakech
If it is Monday, Tuesday, or Friday, you will explore the weekly Berber Market where all Berbers of the valley meet for their weekly shopping and trade, etc. A visit to one of the Aromatic Garden of the Valley as well as one of the Argan Oil Cooperatives on your way to the exotic city of Marrakech. You will be dropped off where ever you may wish. Hotel or airport in Marrakech. End of our services!!
